Vilsegg Castle

Vilsegg Castle (German: Burg Vilsegg) is a 13th-century high medieval hill castle ruin located in the Austrian state of Tyrol, approximately one kilometre northwest of the small town of Vils. The castle is situated near the border with Germany, lying between the towns of Pfronten and Füssen in Bavaria, just a few hundred metres from the Austro-German boundary. Its strategic location was significant for controlling the surrounding region during the medieval period.

Constructed in the 13th century, Vilsegg Castle served as a defensive stronghold during the high medieval period.
