They were daughters of the Marshal of d'Aumont, who owned the last medieval castle before its destruction. The sisters' marriages to the Counts of Saint-Aldegonde linked the property to this noble family, whose descendants continue to own the estate today.

The castle was constructed during the modern period, reflecting architectural trends of the early 19th century, although specific details on its style are scarce.
