One notable owner was Graf Adam von Beichlingen, a nobleman who died in 1538 and was interred in the church of Tiefenort. Despite its decline, Krayenburg remained culturally significant into the 18th and 19th centuries. The famed German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the castle in 1782, the same year he was ennobled. Goethe's visit reflects the castle's status as a site of historical interest and romantic inspiration during the period.
