Mezairaa Fort

Mezairaa Fort, sometimes spelled as Mezair'ah or Muzeira'a, is located within the Liwa oasis in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This fort is part of a network of desert fortifications built to protect vital water sources and settlements in one of the most arid regions on earth. The Liwa oasis itself consists of several smaller oases arranged in an arch over about 110 kilometers along the northern edge of the Rub' Al Khali Desert, also known as the Empty Quarter. This vast desert is the largest continuous sand desert in the world, making the oasis a critical lifeline for the area's inhabitants.

The fort dates back to the 19th century, a period when the local Bani Yas tribes constructed defensive structures to safeguard their wells and settlements from raids by nomadic tribes.
