Ürünlü was once an important town but gradually diminished in size over centuries.

By 1307, the region including Kite Castle came under the control of the Ottoman Empire. However, there are no detailed historical records specifying the castle's role or events during Ottoman rule or earlier Byzantine periods.

Kite Castle originally had a rectangular ground plan, a typical shape for fortifications aiming for efficient defense and internal organization. Presently, the ruins consist mainly of three stretches of curtain walls, which are heavily overgrown with vegetation, obscuring much of the structure.

Archaeological observations indicate the presence of foundations of several rectangular corner towers beneath the undergrowth. These towers would have served as defensive strongpoints, allowing defenders to cover the walls with overlapping fields of fire.
