In the 18th century, Villette Castle was acquired by Jean-François Maucomble, Lord of Glaire, who undertook further rebuilding efforts that shaped much of the castle's present appearance. During the turbulent years of the French Revolution, the Maucomble family discreetly sheltered Bishop Nicolas Philbert of Sedan within the castle. The bishop remained there until his death in 1797, highlighting the castle's role as a place of refuge during revolutionary upheavals.

19th-century ownership and architectural changes

The 19th century saw the castle come under the ownership of the Kistemann family, wool merchants from Sedan. They made further modifications to the structure, adapting it to the needs and styles of the period.
