Sterckshof Castle, known locally as Kasteel Sterckshof, is located in the city of Antwerp, within the province of Antwerpen in the Flemish region of Belgium. This reconstruction marked the birth of the castle as it is known today, and the estate was renamed Sterckshof, meaning "Sterck's Court." Decline and 20th-century reconstruction

In 1921, the Antwerp Provincial Council acquired the Ter Rivieren estate with plans to create Rivierenhof Park. The reconstruction, completed during the 1930s, restored the castle's Renaissance appearance, although it is important to note that much of the current structure is a 20th-century reconstruction rather than an original medieval or Renaissance building. The restoration incorporated interior architectural elements salvaged from demolished mansions in Antwerp's city center during the 1950s, enhancing the castle's historical ambiance.

Modern use and current status

Sterckshof Castle served as a museum until 2014, when the last museum tenant vacated due to planning restrictions that prevented expansion. Since then, the province of Antwerp has sought new uses or ownership for the castle. Presently, the castle is accessible only for external viewing.

Although Sterckshof is not a true medieval castle in its current form, but rather a carefully reconstructed site blending original foundations with later additions, it remains a valued cultural landmark.
