The following year, Hildegard Wörner opened an inn within the western part of the castle ruins, initiating a new chapter in the castle’s life as a hospitality venue.

From 1973, Hildegard’s daughter Lore and her husband Erich Straubinger expanded the inn into an upscale restaurant with banquet facilities. Their entrepreneurial efforts restored vitality to the castle complex, which was further enhanced when the Straubinger family purchased the property in 1990. Their son Ralf became the head chef, while their daughter Karin and her husband Klaus Schurr managed the business development.

In 2000, the families acquired the entire castle complex and embarked on constructing a hotel, which opened in December 2002. The hotel quickly gained recognition, earning a prestigious five-star rating from the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) in 2003. Today, Burg Staufeneck is celebrated as one of Germany’s top boutique hotels, combining historical ambiance with modern luxury.
