Harmantepe Castle

Harmantepe Castle, locally known as Harmantepe Kalesi, is a medieval fortress located northeast of the village of Harmantepe in the province of Sakarya, Turkey. This castle stands on a slight rocky elevation within a marshy plain, adjacent to a stream flowing from Taşkısığı Lake. It represents one of the many fortifications built by the Byzantine Empire along the Sakarya River during the 12th and 13th centuries to defend against the advancing Seljuk Turks.
