One notable use was by the Ursuline nuns, who converted part of the castle into a kindergarten, reflecting a shift from military to civilian functions.

During the 20th century, the municipality of Galliate acquired most of the castle, preserving it as a cultural and historical landmark. However, the central northern section remains privately owned.
