Laurent-Vibert's restoration work focused on stabilizing the structure, repairing the stone masonry, restoring the Renaissance façades, and refurbishing the interiors to reflect their historical character. His untimely death in a car accident in 1925 did not halt the project, as he bequeathed the castle to the Académie des Sciences, Agriculture, Arts et Belles Lettres. This transfer came with the stipulation that the castle be preserved as a trust to support young artists, ensuring its role as a cultural beacon.
