By 1235, the castle's control shifted when the Schenk family pledged it to the influential Counts of Hohenlohe, a prominent noble lineage in southwestern Germany.

In the 14th century, ownership transitioned to the Lords of Rosenberg, who established a branch of their family at Schüpf, maintaining the castle as their seat of power. Subsequently, the estate passed to the Lords of Tottenheim, who governed it until their lineage ended in 1556. These changes in ownership reflect the complex feudal dynamics and political alliances typical of the region during the High and Late Medieval periods.
