Dynastic changes continued with the Seyboltstorffer family acquiring the castle in 1525 through marriage. From 1607 to 1796, the castle was held by the Freiherren von Weichs, during which time it suffered damage from Swedish troops in the Thirty Years’ War (1641). Subsequent owners included Freiherr Gabriel von Buchstetten after 1796, followed by the Lang family in 1821, who established a brewery on the premises. The castle endured further fires in 1807 and 1925, with restoration efforts varying in success.

In the 20th century, ownership passed to the Schimmelmann family and later to Franz Xaver Baier, who transformed it into a hotel and conference venue in 1951. Since 2001, it has been owned by publisher Udo Sieber, maintaining its role as a cultural and hospitality site.
