The current Al Shaqab Fort is situated on the grounds of the renowned Al Shaqab Equestrian Center, a prominent equestrian facility known for its Arabian horse breeding and training programs. Historically, there was an older Al Shaqab Fort located approximately 300 meters west of the present site. This original fort was a traditional Qatari defensive structure but was demolished in 2011 to facilitate modern urban development projects.
